Contra-Dance Calling
Peter Amidon calls regularly at all of the major northeast U.S. contras including Greenfield, Cambridge, and Concord MA, Montpelier VT and Keene & Walpole NH. He has called contra dances at major northeast music and dance festivals, and has been the featured caller at the Country Dance and Song sponsored summer family dance and music weeks at Pinewoods, Ogontz and Buffalo Gap.
Peter is known for his clear, efficient and beginner/friendly walk throughs,
for his dynamic and musical calling style, and for his ever-fresh repertoire
of consistantly flowing and elegant contra dances and squares.
Peter is a founding member of New
England Dancing Masters, publishers of dance
books, and CD's on teaching dance to children that are used by thousands of
elementary school music teachers throughout the United States. He has taught
dance to thousands of children over the past 20 years in his elementary school
traditional dance residencies.
