The Children's Miracle
Rick Mohr organized a ballad workshop with Mary Alice and me and a few others where, at our first meeting, we played and sang for each other ballads that we liked, and we talked about why we liked them and about what makes a ballad a ballad.
At the second meeting we each brough ballads we had composed. 'The Children's Miracle' is mine. It is based on the book 'Parting of the Waters' by Taylor Branch, and the video 'Mighty Times: The Children's March', a film by Robert Hudson and Bobby Houston, a Southern Poverty Law film that won an Oscar for best documentary short subject in 2005.
I have changed some of the words since I did the recording. When there is a difference between the mp3 and the pdf, please use the words on the pdf.
